Summary
This study tested a new fluorescent dye, ASP5354, to help surgeons see the ureter (the tube that carries urine) more clearly during abdominal and pelvic surgeries. The goal was to prevent accidental damage to this delicate structure, which can be a rare but serious complication. Researchers compared how well surgeons could see the ureter using the new dye with special near-infrared light versus standard white light alone.
