Fake surgery vs real: the stomach pain trial

NCT ID NCT05468580

Summary

This study aims to find out if a surgical procedure to release a pinched artery in the abdomen is an effective treatment for a painful condition called MALS. 70 patients with chronic, disabling stomach pain will be randomly assigned to receive either the real surgery or a 'sham' (fake) operation where no actual repair is done. The main goal is to see if the real surgery provides significantly better pain relief and quality of life six months later compared to the sham procedure.
