New surgical blueprint aims to tame dangerous bile duct defects

NCT ID NCT07336576

Summary

This study tested a new system to help surgeons plan operations for adults born with dilated bile ducts (choledochal cysts). Researchers analyzed 234 patients who had surgery to see if this new classification could lead to better long-term results and fewer complications. The goal was to provide clearer guidance on how much tissue to remove and how to rebuild the bile ducts.
