This study aimed to find the best scoring system for predicting complications and death after surgery for gastrointestinal cancers like stomach or colon cancer. Researchers followed 120 adult patients having planned open surgery under general anesthesia. They compared several common risk calculators to see which one most accurately forecasted problems like pneumonia or death within 60 days after the operation.
