Massive 54,000-Patient trial aims to settle Long-Standing debate over oxygen in surgery

NCT ID NCT07224243

Summary

This large study is trying to figure out the safest amount of oxygen to give patients during surgery. It will compare three different oxygen levels (low, medium, and high) across many hospitals to see which one best prevents serious complications like kidney, heart, or lung injury, and death within 30 days after surgery. The goal is to establish a standard practice that improves recovery for millions of people having operations.
