Data tool guides surgeons to better liver cancer outcomes

NCT ID NCT07483242

Summary

This study tested a computer model designed to help surgeons make better decisions for patients with a complex type of liver cancer that has spread into the bile duct. The model analyzed patient scans and health data to predict who would live longer if surgeons removed the bile duct during cancer surgery versus who would do better without that extra step. Researchers found that patients who had the surgery recommended by the model had better survival rates.
