New surgical combo offers hope for kids with severe constipation
NCT ID NCT07180680
First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study tested a two-part surgery for children with severe constipation that didn't improve with standard treatments. The procedure combines keyhole surgery to remove part of the colon with a special enema system (Malone) to help empty the bowel. In 20 children, the approach reduced soiling accidents. The goal is better bowel control, not a cure, as ongoing management is still needed.
