Race against time: new brain surgery aims to save babies from meningitis damage

NCT ID NCT07320599

Summary

This study aims to find the best surgical method to treat dangerous fluid collections that can form in babies' brains after bacterial meningitis. It will compare a newer, more precise neuroendoscopic surgery technique with a traditional drainage method in 100 infants. The goal is to better control this serious complication, prevent it from worsening into a brain infection, and reduce long-term disabilities like epilepsy and developmental delays.
