Nerve block may help stroke patients regain shoulder sense and ease pain
NCT ID NCT07346755
First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a suprascapular nerve block, combined with physical therapy, can improve shoulder joint awareness (proprioception) and reduce pain in people who have had a stroke and suffer from shoulder pain on their affected side. About 40 adults aged 18–80 with stroke-related shoulder pain will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block plus therapy or therapy alone. The goal is to see if the nerve block helps patients better sense and control their shoulder, which could improve rehabilitation outcomes.
