Brain check before life support: new study tests early prediction

NCT ID NCT07584187

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether special brain monitors can give early clues about recovery in people who need emergency life support after a heart stoppage. Researchers will test two devices—a pupil scanner and a brain oxygen sensor—on 45 adults before and after starting ECMO. The goal is to see if these tools are practical and if their readings relate to later outcomes, which could help doctors make faster, better decisions.
