Can a simple blood test predict how well newborns recover from surgery?

NCT ID NCT06731855

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at two natural amino acids, arginine and ADMA, in newborns who have abdominal surgery within their first five days of life. Researchers want to see if the balance of these amino acids can help predict how quickly babies recover and if they have complications. No extra blood draws are needed—only leftover samples from routine tests are used. The goal is to find ways to improve recovery in the future.
