Simple letters aim to save lives after jail release
NCT ID NCT05579600
Summary
This study tested whether sending caring, supportive letters to people after they leave jail could help prevent suicide attempts and connect them to mental health services. Over 45,000 Ohio adults on Medicaid participated. Researchers sent letters for six months after jail release to see if this simple approach improved healthcare engagement and reduced suicide risk.
