New pain combo may cut opioid need after hernia repair

Summary
This study tested whether a non-opioid pain management plan, starting with the drug HTX-011 during surgery, could reduce the need for opioid painkillers after hernia repair. 209 adults having open inguinal hernia surgery took part. The goal was to see if fewer people would need an opioid prescription after the procedure.
