Massive study probes hidden brain dangers of low sodium treatment
NCT ID NCT07576036
First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study reviews medical records of 800 patients who had dangerously low sodium levels (≤110 mmol/L) in the hospital. Researchers want to learn how often serious brain complications like osmotic demyelination syndrome and cerebral edema occur, and what factors increase risk. The goal is to improve treatment safety, not to test a new therapy.
