Saltwater mist and chest taps: a new hope for sick babies?

NCT ID NCT06441162

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving babies a saltwater mist (3% hypertonic saline) along with gentle chest tapping (percussion therapy) could help them recover faster from bronchiolitis, a common lung infection. The study planned to include 75 infants under 2 years old who were in the hospital and needed extra oxygen. The treatment was given every 6 hours. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
