New drug trial aims to save lives from severe lung failure

Summary
This study is testing an investigational drug called STSA-1002 for patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a life-threatening form of lung failure. It will compare the drug against a placebo in about 406 hospitalized patients to see if it improves survival and reduces the need for breathing machines. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers the death rate within 28 days.
