Race against time: new combo therapy aims to save brain function after severe stroke

NCT ID NCT05701956

Summary

This study tested whether adding a clot-busting drug (tenecteplase) to a standard mechanical clot removal procedure (thrombectomy) leads to better recovery for people having a severe stroke caused by a blockage in a critical brain artery. It involved 330 adults who could receive treatment between 4.5 and 24 hours after their stroke began. The main goal was to see if the combined treatment helped more people regain independence in daily activities 90 days later.
