Mind-Reading tech aims to heal stroke damage beyond the arm

NCT ID NCT06940635

Summary

This small pilot study explores if a high-tech rehabilitation system, designed to help stroke patients regain hand movement by reading their brain signals and stimulating their muscles, might also unexpectedly improve swallowing difficulties and speech problems. Ten chronic stroke survivors with arm weakness and either swallowing or speech issues will use the system in 25 therapy sessions over 13 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in swallowing safety, speech, and overall independence to see if this targeted arm therapy has broader benefits for the brain's recovery.
