Zap or mirror? new study tests ways to help stroke patients lift their feet

NCT ID NCT07448532

Summary

This study is testing which of two rehabilitation methods works better to help people who have had a recent stroke walk more safely. It compares functional electrical stimulation (a gentle electrical pulse to help lift the foot) with mirror therapy (using a mirror to create the illusion of movement). About 38 participants will try one of these methods along with standard physical therapy for four weeks to see which improves their ability to clear their foot while walking.
