New device aims to shield brain during artery repair

Summary

This study is testing a new combination of medical devices designed to prevent strokes during a minimally invasive procedure to open a narrowed neck artery. The procedure is for patients at high risk for complications from traditional surgery. Researchers will enroll about 103 patients to see if the new device system is safe and effective at preventing strokes, heart attacks, or death within 30 days after the procedure.
