Arm squeeze could shield brain after Stroke-Preventing surgery

NCT ID NCT07412249

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple, non-invasive technique called remote ischemic conditioning can help prevent future strokes and heart attacks in people who have had a stent placed in their narrowed carotid artery. The technique involves repeatedly squeezing and releasing a blood pressure cuff on the arm to potentially train the body's blood vessels to protect the brain. Researchers will compare outcomes over one year in 300 high-risk patients who receive this treatment along with standard care versus those who receive standard care alone.
