New drug aims to shield the brain during stroke surgery
NCT ID NCT05585606
Summary
This study tested whether a drug called Scp776 could protect the brain from damage when given to people undergoing emergency surgery to remove a blood clot after a severe stroke. About 120 participants were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo (saltwater) alongside their standard surgical treatment. Researchers primarily looked at the safety of the drug and whether it helped patients recover better by measuring their neurological function and disability levels after the stroke.
