New stroke drug could boost recovery when given hours after symptoms start

NCT ID NCT06987305

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a clot-busting drug (rhTNK-tPA) before a procedure to remove a clot can improve recovery in stroke patients. About 820 adults who had a stroke 4.5 to 24 hours earlier will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug helps restore blood flow and leads to better function 90 days later, while checking for any increased risk of bleeding.
