Race against time: new stroke drug dose tested to save brain function

Summary

This study tested a lower dose of a clot-dissolving drug called alteplase for Japanese patients who had a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel in the brain. The goal was to see if this lower dose could safely help patients recover more function after their stroke. The drug had to be given within 3 hours of the stroke starting.
