New stretching gadget could save knee replacement patients from second surgery

NCT ID NCT07454356

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a high-intensity stretching device to standard physical therapy helps people regain knee bending after total knee replacement. About 150 adults who have trouble bending their knee four weeks after surgery will be split into two groups: one gets physical therapy alone, the other adds a home stretching device. Researchers will track knee movement, pain, and daily function for up to two years to see if the device reduces the need for a second surgery to improve motion.
