First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a stress ball can help critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) feel less pain, sleep better, and have more stable vital signs. Sixty adult ICU patients who were awake and able to communicate were randomly assigned to either use a stress ball or receive standard care. The results aim to show if this simple, drug-free tool can improve comfort and recovery in the ICU.
