First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding functional strength training and neuromuscular electrical stimulation to usual hospital care helps people with a sudden worsening of COPD (called an acute exacerbation) recover better. The trial planned to include 35 hospitalized patients, but was stopped early. The goal was to improve physical function, reduce shortness of breath and fatigue, and lower the chance of being readmitted.
