Puppets and storybooks battle Kids' surgery fears
NCT ID NCT07430995
Summary
This study tested two simple, drug-free methods to help children feel less scared before outpatient surgery. Researchers compared reading a special storybook about surgery to playing with a hand puppet, against standard hospital care. They measured fear and emotional distress in 99 children aged 4-7 to see which playful distraction worked better.
