New Clot-Sucking device tested against standard care for dangerous lung clots
NCT ID NCT05684796
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a device to physically remove blood clots from the lungs, in addition to standard blood thinners, is safer and more effective than blood thinners alone. It involved 100 adults with intermediate-high risk pulmonary embolism, a serious condition where clots block blood flow in the lungs. The main goal was to see if the combination treatment improved heart function within 48 hours.
