Can kids stop heart disease penicillin? major trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07146048
Summary
This study aims to determine whether children and young adults with stable, mild rheumatic heart disease can safely stop taking penicillin after at least two years of treatment. Researchers will compare two groups—one that continues penicillin and one that stops—to see if stopping leads to worsening heart damage. The goal is to help patients avoid unnecessary long-term medication while still protecting their heart health.
