Trial tests drug holiday for leukemia patients to reduce Long-Term risks
NCT ID NCT04963946
Summary
This study is testing a new treatment schedule for older or frail adults with a type of blood cancer called chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). All patients will first take the drug acalabrutinib for 18 months. Then, some will stop taking it to see if they can remain well without continuous medication, while others will continue. If the cancer returns in those who stopped, they will restart the drug. The goal is to see if taking breaks from the drug is safe and effective, potentially reducing long-term side effects.
