New stool test aims to simplify gut disease diagnosis

NCT ID NCT06810518

Summary

This study is testing a new stool test that measures a protein called calprotectin, which indicates gut inflammation. The goal is to see how well the test can help doctors tell the difference between inflammatory bowel diseases (like Crohn's or colitis) and irritable bowel syndrome. Researchers will compare the test results from about 220 people with gut symptoms to the findings from their colonoscopy exams.
