Hidden stomach germs found during routine colonoscopy screening

NCT ID NCT07346521

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how common H. pylori infection is in adults who have no stomach symptoms but are getting a routine screening colonoscopy. About 1000 participants will also have a stomach scope (gastroscopy) during the same visit to check for the bacteria and early tissue changes that can raise stomach cancer risk. The goal is to understand how often these hidden conditions occur and if they are linked to lifestyle or family history.
