Fake stoma before surgery eases fears, study hopes

Summary
This study is testing if letting patients practice with a simulated stoma bag before their surgery can reduce their anxiety and help them adapt to life with a stoma afterward. It will involve 58 adults in Turkey who are scheduled for elective colostomy or ileostomy surgery. Researchers will measure anxiety levels before surgery and how well patients adjust to their stoma in the weeks following the operation.
