First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether letting patients practice with a stoma before surgery lowers their anxiety and helps them adjust after the operation. About 58 adults scheduled for colostomy or ileostomy surgery will be randomly assigned to receive standard care or a stoma simulation session beforehand. The goal is to see if this hands-on preparation improves emotional well-being and daily life after surgery.
