New study aims to catch patients waking up during surgery

Summary

This study tests whether brain activity recordings (EEG) can detect when a person might be accidentally awake during general anesthesia. Researchers will stimulate a nerve in the wrist and measure brain responses in 48 adults having surgery. The goal is to improve monitoring and prevent patients from being aware during operations.
