Knee injection showdown: which steroid is safer for your eyes?

NCT ID NCT07242846

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether two different steroid injections for knee osteoarthritis—betamethasone and triamcinolone hexacetonide—affect eye pressure differently. Eighty adults with early-stage knee pain received one of the injections, and their eye pressure was measured before and one week after. The goal was to understand the risk of steroid-related eye pressure increases and help doctors choose safer options, especially for patients at risk for glaucoma.
