New device aims to stop chest bone from coming apart after major heart surgery
NCT ID NCT05953259
Summary
This study is testing a new medical device called STERN FIX, designed to better hold the breastbone together after it is cut open for heart or lung surgery. It compares STERN FIX plus standard wires to wires alone in 90 patients who are at higher risk for healing problems. The main goal is to see if the new device makes the chest more stable one month after surgery and is safe to use.
