First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a stent (a small mesh tube) placed in a narrowed brain artery to improve blood flow in people with severe hardening of the arteries in the brain. 194 participants received the stent and were followed for 12 months to see if the artery stayed open and if there were any complications. The goal was to see if this procedure is a safe and effective way to reduce the risk of stroke.
