Stent pain study pulled before it started
NCT ID NCT02483793
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study planned to compare two drugs, tamsulosin and oxybutynin, for reducing discomfort from urinary stents in children aged 4 to 18. Families would have recorded pain scores and painkiller use for five days after surgery. However, the trial was withdrawn before enrolling anyone, so no results were obtained.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
tamsulosin and oxybutynin
What this could lead to
If completed, this study could have shown which drug better reduces pain from urinary stents in children.
What could go wrong
The trial was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled, so it provides no data. Even if run, it was a small, early-stage comparison with no guarantee of a clear winner.
