Man's own banked stem cells used in fight against rare neurological disease
NCT ID NCT04825613
Summary
This was an individual patient request to test whether a person's own banked stem cells could safely help control Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), a rare disease that affects nerve cells controlling movement. The single 83-year-old participant received multiple infusions of his cells over two years while doctors monitored his safety and any changes in his symptoms and function. The goal was to see if this approach could slow the progression of the disease where standard treatments had not helped.
