Doctors test Infants' own cells to help failing hearts

NCT ID NCT03406884

Summary

This early-stage study tested the safety and feasibility of injecting a child's own heart stem cells during a planned surgery for hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Researchers enrolled 25 infants to see if the cells could be prepared and delivered safely, and to look for early signs of improved heart function, growth, and health outcomes over one year. The main goal was to check for serious side effects and see if the procedure was possible.
