Scientists test Lab-Grown eye cells to fight blinding disease

NCT ID NCT04627428

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether transplanting lab-grown retinal cells into the eye is safe and tolerable for people with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Researchers will enroll 18 adults over age 55 to receive cells derived from donor eye tissue. The main goal is to check for safety issues, but they will also monitor if the treatment helps preserve or improve vision over time.
