Own stem cells may heal scarred vocal cords and restore voice
NCT ID NCT04290182
First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This early-phase trial tested whether injecting a patient's own stem cells into scarred vocal folds can safely improve severe hoarseness or voice loss. Nine adults aged 18–65 with long-term voice problems that didn't respond to other treatments received the stem cells during surgery. Researchers monitored side effects and voice function for one year to see if the approach is safe and might restore a clearer voice.
