Could a single stem cell shot ease your aching back?

NCT ID NCT07587047

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether a one-time infusion of stem cells and exosomes from donated umbilical cord blood can safely reduce chronic lower back pain and improve daily function. About 100 adults with long-term back pain will receive either the stem cell treatment or a placebo (salt water) and be tracked for 6 months. Those who get the placebo first will have the option to receive the real treatment later. The goal is to see if this approach offers a new way to manage pain without surgery or long-term medication.
