Experimental heart patch aims to repair damaged muscle

NCT ID NCT07471698

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a special patch containing lab-grown heart muscle cells can help improve heart function in people with severe, chronic heart failure. Sixteen patients who are already scheduled for heart bypass surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the active cell patch or a dummy patch during their operation. Researchers will monitor if the patch is safe and if it helps the heart pump better by measuring its size, strength, and the patient's ability to walk and perform daily activities.
