First patients receive Lab-Grown esophagus made from their own cells

Summary
This is a first-in-human safety study testing a new implant designed to help regrow damaged sections of the esophagus (the food pipe). The implant is a synthetic scaffold seeded with a patient's own stem cells, intended to stimulate the body to grow new, living tissue. The study will enroll up to 10 adults with severe, untreatable esophageal conditions who need to replace a short segment (up to 6 cm) and are not candidates for standard surgery.
