Could a higher stem cell dose beat back lymphoma?

NCT ID NCT02570542

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether giving more stem cells during an autologous transplant helps people with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma recover better and stay cancer-free longer. About 59 adults who have already tried one chemotherapy will get high-dose chemo (BEAM) followed by a stem cell infusion. Researchers will compare different stem cell doses to see which leads to better immune recovery and longer time without the cancer getting worse.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

stem cells (CD34+ cells) collected after plerixafor mobilization, followed by BEAM chemotherapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors choose the best stem cell dose to improve recovery and delay lymphoma progression after transplant.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 59 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The transplant itself carries risks like infection and organ damage.
