New stem cell kit could replace painful hip bone surgery for kids with cleft palate

NCT ID NCT07305623

Summary

This study aims to see if a new bioengineering kit using a child's own stem cells works as well as the current standard surgery for repairing the bone gap in the upper jaw of children with cleft lip and palate. The standard surgery takes bone from the child's hip, which can be painful. Researchers will compare the two methods in 205 children aged 6 to 11 to see which one leads to better bone growth and a shorter hospital stay.
