New media tool aims to close STEM gap for black middle schoolers

Summary
This study will develop and test a media-enhanced tool designed to help Black middle school students and their families engage with STEM learning at home. The tool includes culturally relevant role models, academic vocabulary practice, and growth mindset activities. About 138 parent-student pairs will use the tool and researchers will measure changes in vocabulary knowledge, mindset, and academic behaviors. The goal is to reduce achievement gaps and support future success in STEM fields.
